Indonesia Allocates 20% of 2025 State Budget to Education, the Highest in History
Jakarta, May 2025 - The Indonesian government has reaffirmed its commitment to education by allocating 20% of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) to the sector, marking the highest education budget in the nation's history. This decision aligns with constitutional mandates and underscores the government's focus on advancing human resource development.
Education Budget Reaches Rp 712.8 Trillion
According to the Ministry of Finance, the education budget for 2025 amounts to Rp 712.8 trillion, distributed through central government spending and transfers to regional governments. A significant portion will support key programs such as the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), school operational assistance (BOS), and digital learning initiatives.
President-elect Prabowo Subianto highlighted that this allocation reflects the government's dedication to strengthening Indonesia's education system. "The 2025 education budget is the largest ever, demonstrating our commitment to future generations," he stated.
Focus on Digital Learning and Equal Access
The Ministry of Finance emphasized that the budget will enhance digital learning infrastructure and ensure equitable access to quality education across regions. Programs like digital classrooms and teacher training aim to bridge educational disparities, particularly in remote areas.
Efficiency Without Compromise on Quality
Despite fiscal constraints, the government ensures that budget efficiency does not reduce education funding. The 20% allocation remains intact, prioritizing long-term national development through education.
The record-high education budget in 2025 signifies Indonesia's strategic investment in human capital, aiming to foster innovation, competitiveness, and inclusive growth. As the nation prepares for future challenges, this allocation serves as a cornerstone for sustainable development.
